Kitchen.  We have a thousand staples in the wood that we can't get out.  We are debating about whether to sand over them, and embed them into the wood and leave it, or to put a tile floor over the top.

Jason in action.  :)

Demo of the downstairs bathroom.

The wall where the sink used to be.

Hum...  The wall cavity is open behind the shower.  That's a slight problem.

You can see where the old tile soap dishes used to be and the wall sconces.

Bathroom floor.  Hardwood.  We're having it refinished.  :)

Upstairs bathroom totally gutted.  The white tile in front is what we're putting back on the floor.

Look ma!  No tub!

Look ma!  A tub!

Downstairs bathroom with plumbing moved for the pedistal sink.

Downstairs bathroom where toilet used to be.  New baseboards and tile!

Downstairs bathroom.  Where sink used to be.  Baseboards!

Newell post

It is so pretty without all that paint on it.  I'd never even noticed the little dentils on the bottom!

Handrail getting closer!

Bathroom with tile 1 more time.

Sun room.  Look familiar?  Look back about 12 weeks ago...

My "office" area.  No wonder I can't get any work done...

Upstairs bathroom.  New plumbing run through the floor and new pipes for the sink!

The tub is IN the upstairs bathroom!  Plumbers roughed in the plumbing for it.

Roughed in plumbing for the tub.

Scraped all the wallpaper off the master bedroom wall over our bed.  Look at the mural that was painted on the wall.

Newell post getting cleaner and cleaner.

Downstairs bathroom.  Tile around toilet, and new toilet!

Tile in downstairs bathroom.  Still needs grout.

Shower in downstairs bathroom.  Completely dismantled, ready to pull out!

Wall cavity above shower.  Showing how much room we'll gain by doing a tile shower instead of a drop-in.

Tile started on the wall where the sink will go.

Oh, and a cute video of Jamie!

  1. What a relief to see the downstairs floors getting sanded, eh? Whooohooo! The kitchen floor...well, you could embed the nails. but I wonder if tile might be better in this situation.

Of course, I love the video of Jamie in the pool. I want to come play!

  2. You know...on the kitchen floor, I think I'd be tempted to refinish them. The staples need to be addressed regardless, and you can always put tile over the floor later on down the road if you decide they just don't look like you want after refinishing. I know you'd like to keep the wood floor.

I bet the flooring guys got a good laugh about my plastic bags taped all over. Thank goodness all that foam on the floor is gone!
