Day 2

On Day 2 of This (New) Old (Thompson) House, we accomplished quite a bit!  I started by removing all of the window covering hardware, nails, screws, lightplate covers, etc. in the dining room.  Then I removed the faux brick wall covering off of the wall in the dining room to expose a perfectly good plaster wall beneath.  After that I tackled the mold problem.  I removed one panel of wallpaper at a time, and used a very potent bleach and water solution to scrub the mold off of the wall.  It took all day, and caused some chemical burns, but we finished it!

I also found time to prep the sunroom for painting.  I vacumed the floor, removed all the nails, etc. in the wall, and all the lightplate covers, and dusted cobwebs off of everything in the room.  This is now officially the only clean room in the house!  This evening my wonderful husband and an awesome friend, Stephanie, came over to help.  They got everything ready in the sunroom to paint, and put on a coat of primer all over the walls!

Around mid-day our new kitchen appliances were delivered.  We had fun trying to turn off the water in order for them to hook up the ice maker in the new refrigerator.  The handle is broken on the main water valve.  We now have a brand-new installed refrigerator and stove.  Our new dishwasher and built-in microwave are here, but sitting in boxes in the middle of the kitchen.  We have to have plumbers, electricians, and cabinet people make holes and hook ups for them before we can install them.
